Sugar Cookie Recipe

  1. Beat ½ cup (one stick) unsalted butter with an electric mixer until fluffy
  2. Add 1 cup of granulated sugar and beat until well blended
  3. Blend in 1/3 cup sour cream, 2 tsp. baking powder and 1 tsp. vanilla
  4. Blend in 2 cups of all-purpose flour—add about ½ cup at a time
  5. Put into a bowl, cover and refrigerate 12 hours or overnight
  6. Roll out onto a floured surface and cut with cookie cutters
  7. Bake in a pre-heated 350 degree oven for 7 – 10 minutes


Buttercream Icing

  1. Beat ¾ cup or unsalted butter with an electric mixer until fluffy
  2. Blend in 2 egg whites or 2 tbsp. meringue powder and beat until fluffy
  3. Add about ¼ cup milk and 1 tsp. vanilla
  4. Gradually add 3 – 5 cups of powdered sugar
  5. After blended, beat on high speed until light and fluffy
  6. You might need to add a little more milk if the consistency is too thick
