The holiday season is a time for gathering together with friends and family and opening our homes for parties and feast. We want all of the senses to be engaged as we entertain; from sparkling decorations to dazzle the eyes, sumptuous food to tempt the taste buds, comfortable and cozy pillows and blankets for cuddling by the fire and we want our homes to have smells that enhance the holiday mood.

Unfortunately, that just painted smell, the fish from last night’s dinner or our furry…

Even if you only have a balcony or patio, you can grow tasty winter vegetables and flowers to eat or for fragrance. Trisha Shirey shows how to do it, even in recycled containers. You can even paint plastic pots to match your outdoor décor!

Finally, cooler weather is here and it is time to plant for fall. The fall garden season is one of the most rewarding for us. Cooler temperatures, more frequent rainfall and fewer insect pests make it easier for gardeners to be successful. The variety of plants that we can grow makes the fall garden very worthwhile.
